le retour du super constellation en europe avril - mai 2004 après quelques jours de balade en californie je suis arrivé à camarillo point de départ du vol retour du super constellation vers l\'europe lundi prochain. il y a encore quelques "bricoles&quo t; à faire avant que l\'avion soit opérationne l mais tvb. dans quatre jours c’est le grand départ pour ce vol retour du super constellation vers l’europe que j’attends depuis un peu plus de 3 ans. il est donc prévu cet après - midi un vol de contrôle qui a une double nécessit&ea cute;, d’une part valider le bon fonctionnement du moteur n°3 qui vient d’être remplacé et le renouvellement de la licence d’un pilote. 8h00 du matin nous sommes dans les starting blocks avec mon épouse au pied de la passerelle avec un autre membre de l’associatio n. il fait beau, tempête de ciel bleu, pas un poil de vent (il se lève en géné ral vers 10 11h). et personne ! nous avons travaillé tard hier soir donc patientons et premier coffee break de la journée. il n’y a personne autour du b17 et du b24 de la collings foundation qui font escale à camarillo pendant 3 jours. c’est leur tournée en californie pour récup&eacut e;rer des dons et offrir 30 minutes de vol aux nostalgiques pour 400$. je profite de ces instants de tranquillité ; pour prendre des photos de ces deux magnifiques machines. après cet intermède nous enfilons nos combinaisons de travail et rejoignons nos collègues américains pour finir de préparer l’avion. nous gonflons les pneus qui viennent d’être changés avant de vider l’avi

what are constellations? so just what are these constellations you keep hearing about? you may go outside some night and see all kinds of stars, and maybe you have even spotted the big dipper (northern hemisphere) or the southern cross (southern hemisphere), but what about leo the lion or pisces the fish? what are they? contents looking at constellations where did the constellations come from? looking at the constellations the first thing you need to know is that constellations are not real! the constellations are totally imaginary things that poets, farmers and astronomers have made up over the past 6, 000 years (and probably even more!). the real purpose for the constellations is to help us tell which stars are which, nothing more. on a really dark night, you can see about 1000 to 1500 stars. trying to tell which is which is hard. the constellations help by breaking up the sky into more managable bits. they are used as mnemonics, or memory aids. for example, if you spot three bright stars in a row in the winter evening, you might realize, "oh! that's part of orion!" suddenly, the rest of the constellation falls into place and you can declare: "there's betelgeuse in orion's left shoulder and rigel is his foot." and once you recognize orion, you can remember that orion's hunting dogs are always nearby. then you might recognize the two bright stars in the upper and lower left of the photograph as procyon in canis minor and sirius in canis major, respectively. when you look in a sky atlas, you might see diagrams like this: obviously, this is very different from the photo above. this type of schematic draws the stars as different sizes to represent different brightnesses. in addition, there is a standard way to connect the stars that allow astronomers and others who use charts like this to quickly tell what they are looking at. in almost every star atlas, you will see orion

constellation lore* fall constellations in greek mythology, andromeda was the daughter of king cepheus and queen cassiopeia. her mother offended poseidon, the god of the sea, by boasting that she and andromeda were far more beautiful than any sea nymph. cepheus, anxious to placate poseidon, chained the unfortunate andromeda to a rock by the seashore, to await her death at the hands of a sea monster, cetus. however, the hero perseus (on his way home after slaying the gorgon medusa) rescued andromeda in the nick of time, and later married her. the pattern of stars that make up the constellation was recognized by ptolemy in the 2nd century ad. cepheus, the king, was cassiopeia's husband and andromeda's father in ancient mythology. he was king of joppa (today in israel), and was one of the argonauts, who journeyed withja son in search of the golden reece. upon his death, the king was placed into the heavens in close proximity to his family, an association which dates back to at least the 5th century bc. the constellation of cassiopeia is one of the most distinctive, and is one of the many ancient groupings to which a legend is attached. cassiopeia was married to king cepheus; their daughter was andromeda. cassiopeia boasting about her own and her daughter's beauty so enraged poseidon that he sent a sea monster to kill andromeda, but she was saved by the hero perseus, whom she later married, appropriately enough, husband, wife, daughter and son - in - law are all located in roughly the same part of the sky. the queen is usually represented in a throne or chair shaped by the six most prominent stars of the group. ursa major, the great bear, has had myths associated with it since the very earliest civilizations. it was identified with a bear in such disparate cultures as the native american indians of the northeastern united states and the ancient greeks. the name common in b

le retour du super constellation en europe avril - mai 2004 après quelques jours de balade en californie je suis arrivé à camarillo point de départ du vol retour du super constellation vers l'europe lundi prochain. il y a encore quelques "bricoles&quo t; à faire avant que l'avion soit opérationne l mais tvb. dans quatre jours c’est le grand départ pour ce vol retour du super constellation vers l’europe que j’attends depuis un peu plus de 3 ans. il est donc prévu cet après - midi un vol de contrôle qui a une double nécessit&ea cute;, d’une part valider le bon fonctionnement du moteur n°3 qui vient d’être remplacé et le renouvellement de la licence d’un pilote. 8h00 du matin nous sommes dans les starting blocks avec mon épouse au pied de la passerelle avec un autre membre de l’associatio n. il fait beau, tempête de ciel bleu, pas un poil de vent (il se lève en géné ral vers 10 11h). et personne ! nous avons travaillé tard hier soir donc patientons et premier coffee break de la journée. il n’y a personne autour du b17 et du b24 de la collings foundation qui font escale à camarillo pendant 3 jours. c’est leur tournée en californie pour récup&eacut e;rer des dons et offrir 30 minutes de vol aux nostalgiques pour 400$. je profite de ces instants de tranquillité ; pour prendre des photos de ces deux magnifiques machines. après cet intermède nous enfilons nos combinaisons de travail et rejoignons nos collègues américains pour finir de préparer l’avion. nous gonflons les pneus qui viennent d’être changés avant de vider l’avi
